Balcony Safety for Children in Jaipur: What Parents Should Check
Open balconies and low window openings are a real fall risk for young children, and for pets too. Here is a plain checklist of what to look at in your own home, and how an invisible grill helps close the gap without turning the balcony into a cage.
Where the real risk is
Most balcony railings are built for adults. Wide gaps between bars, a low top rail, or a horizontal rail a child can climb like a ladder are the usual problems. Windows with a low sill are the same. Falls happen quickly, so the safer fix is a physical barrier rather than only reminding children to stay away.
A quick checklist for your home
- Is there any gap in the railing wide enough for a child's head or body to slip through?
- Is there a horizontal rail or ledge a child could step on?
- Is there furniture, a planter or a stool near the edge that can be climbed?
- Can the balcony door be opened by a small child?
- Are window openings low enough to reach from a bed or sofa?
How invisible grill helps
An invisible grill uses thin, high-tension stainless steel wires, spaced closely so a child or pet cannot slip through, and anchored to a frame fixed to your railing or wall. From a few feet away it barely shows, so the balcony keeps its view and light. We offer a 38 mm (1.5 inch) or 50 mm (2 inch) wire gap; for small children the closer gap is the usual choice, and we will advise you on site.
What it does not replace
No barrier replaces adult supervision. Keep climbable furniture away from the edge, and keep balcony doors latched out of a small child's reach. If your railing or wall itself is loose or damaged, tell us at the site visit so the frame is anchored properly.
Pets and elderly family members
The same barrier helps with pets that jump onto ledges, and with elderly relatives for whom a low or open edge is a worry. If birds are also a problem on the same balcony, a bird net can be fitted alongside; see our comparison of bird net and invisible grill.

No. The wires are thin, so from a few feet away the balcony stays open and bright, unlike heavy iron bars.
No. It is a physical safety barrier, but children should still be supervised and climbable furniture kept away from the edge.
